Low E glass coatings work by reflecting or absorbing IR light (heat energy). The thickness of the Low E coating and which piece of glass and where it is installed on an insulated window unit will dictate how the window will perform.
When installed on the TrustGuard™ vinyl windows, the Low E coating will reflect IR heat from inside the room to help reduce the energy loss during the cold months, thereby reducing heating costs.

Argon is a colourless, odourless, non-flammable, non-reactive, inert gas. Argon gas fills are used to reduce heat loss in sealed units by slowing down convection inside the air space. Argon gas is extremely cost-efficient, and works well with Low-e coated glazing. This option can only be installed if Low "E" glass is installed.

Foam Filled Frames - The vinyl windows extrusion have chambers which create dead air space. To increase the insulating properties of the window, foam is injected into these chambers. As a result, the windows is not only energy efficient, but it also reduces outside noise. This option is only available and applied when Low "E" and Argon are installed on your new TrustGuard™ windows.

New Construction Fin is available for metal and other windows which are attached on the exterior. Vinyl windows are custom made with the fin as part of the main frame. It is not a snap on fin. This provides for a better installation and protection from the elements. This also eliminates the need to replace window blinds which are sometimes installed inside the vinyl windows rough opening area.

Tempered glass is one of two kinds of safety glass regularly used in applications in which standard glass could pose a potential danger. Tempered glass is four to five times stronger than standard glass and does not break into sharp shards when it fails. Tempered glass is manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, making it harder than normal glass. The brittle nature of tempered glass causes it to shatter into small oval-shaped pebbles when broken. This eliminates the danger of sharp edges. Due to this property, along with its strength, tempered glass is often referred to as safety glass. The current building codes require this glass be used in any window that is 18" from the floor or LOWER.
